厚生労働省は2016年9月9日、薬事・食品衛生審議会医薬品第二部会を開催。小野薬品工業の「オプジーボ」（ニボルマブ）に次ぐ、2番目の抗PD1抗体として、MSDの「キイトルーダ点滴静注」（ペムブロリズマブ）の承認が了承された。

米Fate Therapeutics社は2016年9月7日、米Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centerと多能性細胞株を用いたT細胞免疫療法の他家製剤化に関するパートナーシップで合意したと発表した。両者それぞれが積み重ねてきた知見と技術を結集し、あるいは互いに補完しつつ、臨床開発への移行を加速する。人工多能性細胞株の遺伝子設計や維持、大量培養、そして、安全性とエフェクター機能の高いT細胞の大規模製造制御までを含め、他家細胞医薬の製剤化に向けた3年間の共同開発である。
