ようやっと重い腰を上げて、経産省（NEDO）が今年度からゲノム編集技術に研究費を投入することを決定しました。先行して医学応用のプロジェクトを進めているAMEDも調整費をさらに注ぎ込み、作物のゲノム編集技術の大型プロジェクトを開始している農水省と合わせて、我が国の政務をゲノム編集技術振興に取り組む体制が取れたのです。しかし、残念なこと相変わらずの縦割りのプロジェクトです。ゲノム編集技術はミトコンドリアDNA改変から動植物の育種、そして遺伝子治療まで、生物を超えて横串を通す一大技術革新です。各省庁がゲノム編集の対象生物毎に、米国と比べて決して大型ではありえない予算を分割して投入するという愚を犯しています。すでにCRISPR-Cas9開発競争の帰趨は見えており、今、私たちが取り組むべきはポストCRISPR-Cas9の第4世代のゲノム編集という本質的が技術革新です。我が国の2省と1独立行政法人のプロジェクトを事実上一体化して技術革新を進めることによって、1973年以来バイオテクノロジーを40年間牽引してきた遺伝子工学がその役目を終え、細胞を丸ごと操作する真の細胞工学の時代へと導かなくてはなりません。再生医療新法と改正薬事法（薬機 ...
