田中貴金属工業は2016年6月7日、血液から直接、ジカウイルスを検出する試薬を開発したと発表した。検出はイムノクロマト法で行い、10分から15分程度でウイルスの検出ができる。

理化学研究所と神戸市立医療センター中央市民病院、大阪大学、京都大学iPS細胞研究所(CiRA)は、滲出型加齢黄斑変性に対するiPS細胞由来網膜色素上皮(RPE)細胞移植の臨床研究を共同で実施する協定を2016年5月30日に締結した。2016年6月6日、4機関は記者会見を開催し、実施する3本の臨床研究の内容などについて説明。まずは他家の懸濁液を利用した臨床研究を先行して開始する。
