経済産業省と厚生労働省、文部科学省の3省は、2016年4月15日、第１回「医学研究科等における個人情報の取扱い等に関する合同会議」を経産省で開催した。2015年9月に「個人情報の保護に関する法律」が改正されたことを受け、医学研究における遺伝情報を含む個人情報の適切な取り扱いを行うため、３省が管轄する3種類の指針について見直しを行う方針。

台湾の半官半民の研究機関「工業技術研究院（ITRI）」は同院が研究開発して知財を所有するドラッグ・デリバリー・システム（DDS）技術について、日本でのライセンス活動を本格化させる。医薬品の開発支援サービスなどを手がけるリブラメディシーナ（東京・千代田、西野賢貴社長）と営業代理に関する業務提携契約を3月1日に締結した。

三井情報（東京都・港）は、2015年から開始した癌遺伝子解析と薬剤情報の提供をコアとした診療支援サービス事業「OncoPrime」の事業の拡大する意向を明らかにした。現在のクライアント３大学病院を今年度中に5大学病院にするとともに、将来は拠点を全国規模に拡大するほか、需要が増しているアジアにも展開する計画でいる。
