実験動植物や微生物などライフサイエンスの研究に用いられるバイオリソースの体系的な収集・保存・提供などの体制整備を行う国家プロジェクトのこと。2002年度から文部科学省がライフサイエンスの総合的な推進を図るために行ってきた。現在は文科省の補助金を受けて医療医療研究開発機構(AMED)が実施している。プロジェクトは具体的には、1.中核的拠点整備プログラム、2.ゲノム情報など整備プログラム、3.基盤技術整備プログラム、4.情報センター整備プログラム――の4つのプログラムからなる。
