理化学研究所田原分子分光研究室の乙須拓洋客員研究員と石井邦彦専任研究員、田原太平主任研究員らは、蛋白質分子の速い構造変化を追跡できる二次元蛍光寿命相関分光法（2D-FCLS）を開発し、5μ秒で起こる分子レベルの構造変化をシトクロムCで検出した。Nature Communications誌で2015年7月7日に発表した。
