レギュラトリーサイエンスの議論が進展し、安全性などの評価指標が整理されつつある。日本核酸医薬学会が4月に発足し、垣根を越えて議論を交わす場の形成も進む。期待感だけで注目された時期は過ぎ、実用化を目指した具体的な動きが目立ち始めた。

ここ半年ぐらいの間に、欧米製薬企業とベンチャーとの提携が活発化しているのが遺伝子治療分野だ。昨年12月に米Pfizer社が、米Spark Therapeutics社と血友病B向けの遺伝子治療の開発と販売で提携したのに続いて、今年1月には米Biogen社がイタリアのSan Raffaele-Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy （TIGET）と契約を結び、血友病AとBに対する遺伝子治療を開発すると発表した。

今週閣議決定される予定の政府の成長戦略、日本再興戦略2015には、特に重要な施策の一つとして「大学改革と研究資金改革の一体的推進」が盛り込まれている。大学改革や研究資金改革は重要な課題ではあるものの、これまでの政権では社会保障や税、経済対策などに比べて、それほど重要視されてこなかった。

横浜市立大学大学院医学系研究科臓器再生医学講座の谷口英樹教授は2015年6月26日、第22回HAB研究機構学術年会で講演し、肝疾患の小児患者にヒトiPS細胞などから作製した肝臓の原基（肝芽）を移植する臨床研究の計画などについて説明した。
