一般向け（DTC）遺伝子検査サービスを手掛けるジェネシスヘルスケアは、2015年7月7日、三井物産と米国のベンチャーキャピタルファンド、Founders Fundを引受先とする第三者割当増資を実施したと発表した。

大阪大学生命機能研究科の橋本昌和助教（2015年6月に千葉大学医学研究院助教から異動）と徳島大学藤井節郎記念医科学センターの竹本龍也助教は、エレクトロポレーション法でCRISPR/Cas9システムをマウス受精卵に導入することにより、マウスのゲノム編集を高効率・高生存率で作製できる手法を確立した。Nature Publishing Groupが発行するオープンアクセス誌であるScientific Reports誌で2015年6月11日に成果を発表した。この手法に用いられた電気パルス遺伝子導入装置（エレクトロポレーター）「CUY21EDIT II」は、ベックス（東京・板橋、森泉俊幸社長）の製品。同社は今回の成果を踏まえ、ゲノム編集専用に特化して価格を汎用機に比べ3分の2に下げた装置「Genome Editor」を7月1日に発売した。
