米食品医薬品局（FDA）医療機器・放射線保健センター（CDRH）体外診断薬・放射線保健室（OIR）のElizabeth Mansfield氏は、2015年5月21日、都内で開催された第11回国際ゲノム会議で、米国からの中継で講演した。講演では、米23andMe社のブルーム症候群のキャリア検査が承認に至った経緯などを説明した。

JCRファーマは2015年4月に、蛋白質や低分子化合物が血液脳関門（BBB）を通過できるようにする技術の「J-Brain Cargo」を開発したと発表した。同社のこの技術をハンター病治療薬JR-141に応用し、臨床試験に向けた開発を行っている。

IHIと神戸大学、ちとせ研究所（川崎市高津区、藤田朋宏社長）は2015年5月21日、高速増殖型ボツリオコッカス（Botryococcus braunii）を屋外で大規模培養できた成果を、設備のある鹿児島市のIHI所有地で公開した。培養池面積1500m2の施設を公開するとともに、2015年3月27日から5月11日まで順調に培養できた実績数値が示された。2013年度にIHI横浜事業所で実施した100m2規模の屋外培養を15倍に拡大できた。実用化に向けた大きな前進と、位置付けている。

2015年4月から新しい食品の健康機能性表示（ヘルスクレーム）制度が日本で始まった。保健機能食品の3番目のカテゴリーとして「機能性表示食品」が設けられた。生鮮物（農畜水産物）もヘルスクレームの対象になる点などで世界に先駆けた制度だ。
