消費者庁は2015年3月2日、「食品表示基準及び新たな機能性表示制度に係る説明会」の第1回を都内で開催、会場の新宿文化センター大ホール（定員1802人）は満席になった。消費者庁は次いで3月4日に仙台市、3月5日に広島市、3月6日に名古屋市、3月11日に札幌市、3月13日に福岡市、3月16日に大阪市で開催する。東京では参加希望者が定員を大幅に上回り、事前の抽選で参加できなかった人が多かったため、3月16日の大阪市での開催後に再度、都内の大きな会場で説明会を開催する。

フランスDeinove社は2015年2月25日、「High-performance metabolic bacteria」についての米特許（PCT publication number: WO2010/130812）が成立したと発表した。この特許は、バイオマスを構成するセルロースやヘミセルロース物質をバクテリアDeinococcusによって分解し発酵させてバイオ燃料を生産する統合バイオプロセス「DEINOLプロセス」をカバーしている。今回の特許成立は、バイオ先進国の米国でそのDEINOLプロセスの革新性が認められたということであり、Deinove社は全世界でその知的所有権を積極的に保護してゆくという方針を示している。Deinove社は創設以来、17の群に分けられた180件を超える国際特許出願を戦略的に行ってきている。
