カナダOkanagan Specialty Fruits社は2015年2月13日、米農務省（USDA）のAnimal and Plant Health Inspection Service（APHIS：動植物検疫局）によって、Okanagan社の茶褐色に変色しないリンゴ2品種、「Arctic Golden」と「Arctic Granny」の米国における規制が解除されることになったと発表した。APHISの最終的な環境アセスメント（EA：environmental assessment）と病虫害リスクアセスメント（PPRA：plant pest risk assessment）はまもなくFederal Register（米官報）に掲載される。USDAの発表によると、これらアセスメントは「“Arctic”リンゴは植物の病虫害リスクをもたらす可能性はなく、これらリンゴ種の規制緩和はヒトの環境に大きなインパクトを及ぼさない」と結論づけた。
