世界における患者数は1億2500万人、一方で国内は10万人と発症率は欧米と比べ低い。経口剤ではPDE−4阻害薬の「Otezla」（アプレミラスト）が欧米で発売された。注射剤では抗IL17A抗体の「コセンティクス」（セクキヌマブ）は3極で承認された。
