米KiOR社は2014年11月9日、米デラウェア地区にある連邦破産裁判所に連邦破産法第11章、いわゆるChapter 11（チャプターイレブン）による会社更生を申請したと発表した。KiOR社はまた、資産の売却と研究開発活動を立て直す一環として、そのほとんどの資産に対する競売入札を投資家Vinod Khosla氏の系列会社から受け入れたと発表した。Khosla氏の系列会社はこれまでKiOR社に担保付上位融資（senior secured financing）を行ってきた企業で、今後も継続してこのファイナンシングを提供してゆく。破産法の下では、より高くてより良い入札提示が選択され、裁判所の承認が必要になる。KiOR社の100％子会社によって所有されているミシシッピ州Columbusにある現在稼動していない生産施設はこの破産申請には含まれていない。

米BioCardia社、CardiAMP療法のフェーズIIIを開始へ

米BioCardia社は2014年11月11日、米食品医薬品局(FDA)が、同社の心不全を対象とする骨髄由来のCardiAMP療法のフェーズIIIの臨床試験開始申請を承認したと発表した。同臨床試験は、無作為比較試験として多施設で行われ、40の医療機関の250人の患者が参加する。

カナダCaprion社、VLPワクチンで誘導される免疫応答を解析

カナダCaprion社は2014年11月12日、同社の免疫モニタリングビジネスユニットであるImmuneCartaが、H5およびH1インフルエンザウイルスを標的とする、ウイルス様粒子（VLP）ワクチンにより誘導される免疫応答について、Medicago社とともに、データを公表したと発表した。2つの独立したフェーズI/IIで、141人の被験者が、VLPワクチン、不活化三価ワクチン「Fluzone」、あるいはプラセボを投与され、CD4陽性および CD8陽性T細胞の免疫応答を評価した結果が、Clinical Immunology誌に掲載された。
