京都大学iPS細胞研究所（CiRA）初期化機構研究部門の季紅梅大学院生と堀田秋津主任研究員・助教（科学技術振興機構の戦略的創造研究推進事業「さきがけ」研究員）らは、デュシェンヌ型筋ジストロフィー（DMD）の患者から作製したiPS細胞において、ゲノム編集技術のTALENやCRISPR/Cas9システムを用いて、DMDの原因遺伝子であるジストロフィンを修復することに成功した。DMDの遺伝子治療につながるこの成果を、国際幹細胞学会（ISSCR）のStem Cell Reports誌（Elsevir社発行）で2014年11月26日正午（米東部時刻）に発表した。

米MabVax Therapeutics社は2014年11月19日、米Memorial Sloan-Kettering癌センター（MSKCC）の放射線科と共同で、膵臓癌の検出の精度を改善し、適切な切除を容易にするために、抗CA19.9（シアリルルイスA抗原）抗体HuMab5B1を2種類のイメージング剤で標識し、動物モデルを用いてその有用性を示したと発表した。詳細は、韓国で行われた世界分子イメージング会議で、MSKCCの研究者によって2014年9月20日に発表された。
