昨日、東京大学医科研で開催されたゲノム創薬・医療フォーラムの第1回シンポジウムで、「CDS（Community Derived Science）が医療をどう変えるのか？」という演題で講演をさせていただきました。今や住民ゲノムコホートなど、医学研究に住民や患者がパートナーとして参加する時代が押し寄せてきました。大学や研究機関だけでなく、コミュニティを巻き込んだ研究を私はCDSと徒名しています。そしてCDSを決定的に推し進めるのが、スマホなど通信技術の技術革新です。このシンポジウムの主催者の慧眼には経緯を表しますが、2014年9月17日午前10時から米Apple社が新しいOSであるiOS8をリリースした、その日にシンポジウムが行われました。iOS8の新機能はHealthcare Kit。健康情報をスマホに収集、それをクラウド（iCloud）に保存、共有する機能です。今年の秋にはGoogle社もGoogle Fitという健康情報収集サービスを開始いたします。いよいよスマホとインターネットの巨人が、21世紀の情報産業でもっとも価値の高い情報である健康情報市場の争奪戦に名乗りを上げたのです。

2014年9月1日、医薬品医療機器総合機構（PMDA）はワークショップ「コンパニオン診断薬〜開発及び評価の考え方と課題〜」を開催。診断に使われる次世代シーケンサー（NGS）の扱いについて、産官学の参加者からは、様々な意見が出された。

全世界の2012年における大腸癌の死亡者数は69万人、国内では4万7276人であった。代謝拮抗型の新薬「ロンサーフ」が世界に先駆けて承認された。注目された癌幹細胞阻害薬のBBI608は中間解析の結果、試験中止となった。
