理研がSTAP幹細胞の解析結果を訂正、若山研由来の可能性も  from 日経バイオテクONLINE  (2014-7-22 23:19)

理化学研究所発生・再生科学総合研究センター（CDB）は2014年7月22日、先日発表したSTAP幹細胞の第三者機関による解析結果に一部誤りがあったと発表した。誤りがあったのは、当初の解析で、山梨大学生命環境学部生命工学科の若山照彦教授が提供したマウスから樹立されたものではないとされたSTAP幹細胞株の解析結果。今回の訂正により、同STAP幹細胞株が若山教授の研究室のマウス由来である可能性も出てきた。

米AbbVie社と英Shire社は2014年7月18日、両社が合併することで合意したと発表した。AbbVie社が320億ポンド（約5兆5300億円）でShire社の全株式を買い取る。

米Google社が患者団体と組み、自閉症ゲノム計画の支援を始めるなど、ICTとバイオの融合が急速に進んでいます。知識資本主義で最も価値ある情報は生命に関する知識ですから、これはもう押しとどめられない動きです。この件に関しては木曜日のメールで詳報いたします。本日は早稲田大学の小保方博士論文の調査委員会の報告書を読んでいるうちに、血圧が高まり、怒りが込み上げてまいりましたので、これを取り上げたいと考えます。学問に対して厳しさを失い、さらに自浄作用をも失った学問の府は、今や自殺行為を行いつつあります。大学の最大にして唯一の産物は一遍の論文ではなく、創造的な研究を遂行し世の中を幸福にする人間であることを忘れてはなりません。学生に愛情を注ぐことができない大学は大いなる欠陥品であります。また、今回の報告書は学問の急速な展開に総合大学が追い付いていない現状も露わにしました。この報告書に書いてある通りで、ここから改革を進めないなら、早稲田大学は少なくとも生命科学の学位授与権を返上するのが最良の解決策であると思います。

乳酸菌学会、若手優秀発表賞は北大の阪中氏と北里大の西山氏、東北大の鈴木氏  from 日経バイオテクONLINE  (2014-7-22 9:00)

広島市で開かれた日本乳酸菌学会2014年度大会の若手優秀発表賞には、北海道大学大学院農学研究院の阪中幹祥氏と北里大学獣医学部の西山啓太氏、東北大学大学院農学研究科の鈴木大智氏の3人が選ばれ、2014年7月18日に受賞した。3氏の発表演題名と所属する研究室は次の通り。若手優秀発表賞の選考の対象となった発表者は、一般講演の演題30題のうち20題だった。
