Tweet ▼空中ロボ、すなわちマルチコプターが大流行りだが、水中ロボも実はだいぶこなれてきている。ドローンがGoProのようなカメラと組み合わされて新しい可能性を開いたように、水中ロボットも、海の中を撮る人たちが増えれば使い方が一気に広がるように思う。水の中は色々難しいけれど、サンゴ礁とかでグラスボートみたいに下を見るだけでもだいぶ違うんじゃないか。

震災前後、それぞれ半年間の地震波形のデータを計算したところ、地震の震央から離れた伊豆半島や東北地方の火山地域の地下で、地震波の速度が著しく低下していることがわかった。地中に地下水などが入ると地震波の速度が遅くなることがある。
防災研では、震災によって火山地域の地下の圧力が高まり、地中にある隙間に熱水などが浸入して地震波の速度が低下したのではないかとみている。

アイオワ州再生可能燃料協会（Iowa Renewable Fuels Association：IowaRFA）は2014年7月1日、アイオワ州で初となる商業規模のセルロースエタノール生産が、Quad County Corn Processors（QCCP）が所有するバイオリファイナリーで開始されたと発表した。このバイオリファイナリーは地元農家が共同で所有するエタノール生産プラントで、この商業生産の開始により、推進してきたAdding Cellulosic Ethanol（ACE）プロジェクトが実現することになる。ACEプロジェクトは、従来のコーンスターチ・エタノール生産に加えて新たなプロセスを追加することにより、トウモロコシ穀粒ファイバーをセルロースエタノールに変換できる能力をエタノール生産プラントに付加した。
