Intrexon社、メタンをファルネセンにバイオ変換することに成功  from 日経バイオテクONLINE  (2014-7-4 7:45)

米Intrexon社は2014年6月30日、同社のIndustrial Products部門が独自の技術プラットフォームにより研究室レベルでメタンをファルネセン（farnesene）にバイオ変換することに成功したと発表した。ファルネセンはディーゼル燃料の重要なビルディングブロック化学品で、潤滑剤や、化粧品、ゴム、プラスチックなどのスペシャルティ製品の原料としても利用される。ファルネセンはIntrexon社のユニークな細胞工学技術を用いて天然ガスから生成されたイソブタノールに続く物質となる。
