協和発酵キリンは5月16日、記者会見を開催し、同社が販売する持続型赤血球造血刺激因子製剤「ネスプ注射液」（一般名：ダルベポエチンアルファ）に関する医師主導臨床研究に、少なくとも社員2人が実施計画書の作成段階から関与していたほか、臨床検査結果のデータ入力を代行していたことを明らかにした。同社は第三者委員会を設置し、実態究明に向けた調査を始めている。
