STAP細胞のNature誌の論文著者の1人であるHarvard Medical SchoolのCharles Vacanti教授が、STAP細胞を効率的に作製するための新プロトコルを公開した。作製には、酸処理前にガラスピペットで細胞を吸ったり出したりし、機械的刺激を与えることが重要だとしている。しかし現在は、STAP細胞の存在や多分化能そのものに多くの疑義が呈されている状況。新たなプロトコルは、事態の収拾よりも混乱に拍車をかける存在になりそうだ。
