米エネルギー省（DOE）のBioenergy Technologies Office（BETO）は2014年2月3日、バイオマスから再生可能カーボンファイバーを生産する技術の開発を支援するため最大1200万ドルを拠出するという助成金公募の告示（FOA：funding opportunity announcement）を公表した。この助成金はDOEのClean Energy Manufacturing Initiativeによるもので、米国メーカーの世界市場における競争力を維持することを目的とした分野横断的な支援の一環である。
