今日（3月14日）は14時から東京駅八重洲通りの貸し会議室で、理化学研究所が 「研究論文（STAP細胞）の疑義に関する調査中間報告について」を開催しまして、 スクール形式で180人の会場に、200人を大幅に超える報道関係者らが集まりまし た。テレビやウェブ動画関係者の質問も目立ちました。

3月14日、理化学研究所は記者会見を開き、STAP細胞の2本の論文について実施している調査について、同研究所の上席研究員で「研究論文の疑義に関する調査委員会」の石井俊輔委員長らが、中間報告を行った。画像の不自然さなどの疑義については個別に説明があったものの、STAP細胞の実在性については、第三者の検証を待つとの説明が繰り返され、何も明らかにならなかった。

つい先ほどまで、STAP細胞の論文について、理化学研究所が開催した中間報告の記者会見を取材していました。14時からの記者会見にもかかわらず、12時半には会場はカメラクルーや記者であふれかえり、用意された100席近い席はすべて一杯。テレビや新聞は、論文発表時に大々的に報じてしまったからなのか、メディアの関心の異常な高さがうかがえました。
