米Boeing社は2014年3月5日、南アフリカの小規模農家による持続可能燃料の原料となる作物の栽培と市場へのアクセスを支援するため、南アフリカ航空（SAA：South African Airways）とRoundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials（RSB：持続可能なバイオ材料に関する円卓会議）と共にイニシアチブを立ち上げたと発表した（関連記事）。
