ドイツBASF社と米Renmatix社は2013年12月18日、リグノセルロース・バイオマスから工業用糖類を生産するRenmatix社の「Plantrose」プロセスのスケールアップを共同で実施することになり、非独占的な共同開発契約を締結したと発表した。両社は将来BASF社が商業化のためにこの技術をライセンスする場合の金銭面での重要事項についても同意した。この共同開発は2012年1月、BASF社がRenmatix社に3000万ドルを出資したのに続くもの(関連記事)。
