2014年3月末で終了する内閣府の最先端・次世代研究開発支援プログラム（NEXT）の実施状況を2014年1月16日、事務局を務める日本学術振興会（JSPS）が更新したことが話題になっている。NEXTは、若手研究者や女性研究者に1人当たり1億5000万円前後を助成するプログラム。2010年度（補助事業期間の開始は2011年2月10日）から2013年度の実施で、グリーン・イノベーションが141課題、ライフ・イノベーションが188課題選ばれた。助成金の総額は500億円だ。
