食品安全委員会の遺伝子組換え食品等専門調査会（第121回）が2013年12月12日に開催され、厚生労働省の「組換えDNA技術応用食品及び添加物の安全性審査の手続（平成12年厚生省告示第233号）の改正等について」の審議を初めて行った。専門委員11人（座長：澤田純一・医薬品医療機器総合機構テクニカルエキスパート）のうち10人が出席し、専門参考人の国立医薬品食品衛生研究所食品衛生管理部の五十君靜信部長と岡田由美子主任研究官が加わり、厚労省が食安委に2回に分けて諮問した2件（11月20日諮問の厚労省発食安1120第2号と、11月27日諮問の厚労省発食安1127第1号）ついて審議を行い、手続き改正内容の文面に一部修正を加えて審議を終えることで合意した。
