台湾国立成功大学（NCKU）は2013年10月31日、イスラエルBar-Ilan大学からの客員教授であるAharon Gedanken名誉教授を中心とする研究チームが、使用済み食用油をバイオディーゼルに10秒で変換できる電磁波をベースとするプロセスを開発したと発表した。

2013年11月5日、第185回臨時国会の議院本会議で薬事法改正案と再生医療等の安全性の確保等に関する法律案（再生医療新法）が前回一致で可決され、参議院に送付されました。これで今国会での成立がほぼ決まりました。韓国の真似とはいえ、条件付き承認で再生医療等（遺伝子治療も入るという読み方もできます）の実用化をドライブする仕組みを先進国に先駆けて整備したわが国の規制当局もやるではないですか。しかし、前回のメールでも書きましたが、法律は法律、実際の規制を決めるのはあくまでも政省令と審査官の教育ですので、まだまだ気は許せません。一方で再生医療の安全性の担保が2つの法案とも最重要課題であることは揺るぎませんので、当面、条件付き承認は既に実績を積んでいる自家細胞か、他家細胞でも骨髄などに限定されると考えるのが大人の判断ですが。。。
