全米自動車協会（AAA：American Automobile Association）は2013年10月25日、米環境保護庁（EPA）と政府に対して、2014年のガソリンへ混合されるエタノールの必要量を低減させるよう要請すると表明した。AAAは、より現実的なRFS目標はガソリン価格の急上昇の可能性を防ぎ、潜在的に自動車を破損する可能性のあるE15ガソリンの使用拡大を抑えることになり、ドライバーを保護することになると主張している。

米Cellular Dynamics International（CDI）社は2013年11月4日、米カリフォルニア再生医療研究所（CIRM）から3000人のヒト人工多能性幹（iPS）細胞を作製するプロジェクトに関する助成交付決定通知書（NGA）を受け取ったと発表した。NGAの受領は、CDI社がCIRMと正式契約を結び、1600万ドル規模の同プロジェクトへの出資が開始されることを意味する。
