第一三共は2013年11月1日に、2013年度第2四半期の決算説明会を開催した。同社の中山譲治社長（写真）は冒頭に、2013年9月に米食品医薬品局（FDA）が、子会社のインドRanbaxy Laboratories社の最新のMohali工場で製造する医薬品の輸入を禁止したことに対し、関係者に謝罪した。FDAの制裁は、同年5月にRanbaxy社と米司法省との協議の終結が発表されたわずか4カ月後の出来事となった。

田辺三菱製薬は2013年11月1日、2013年度の中間決算説明会を開催した。トップ製品の関節リウマチ治療薬の「レミケード」などが伸張したものの、C型肝炎治療薬「テラビック」の計画未達などで、国内医療用医薬品は減収となった。しかし、多発性硬化症治療薬「ジレニア」（田辺三菱製薬の国内商品名は「イムセラ」）に係るロイヤルティーが伸びたことで、全体としては前年度から微減収にとどまった。

塩野義製薬の2013年度上期決算は最高益を更新、手代木社長「クレストールの特許切れ対策進む」

塩野義製薬は2013年10月31日、2013年度の上期の決算説明会を開催した。業績は増収、各利益は上期実績として過去最高益を更新した。パイプラインでは、2013年6月に発売となった閉経後膣萎縮症治療薬「Osphena」（オスペミフェン）は、80％以上の民間保険の償還リストに掲載されるなど、順調に市場導入されていることが説明された。自社創製品のHIV感染症治療薬ドルテグラビル（S/GSK1349572）も、米食品医薬品局（FDA）の承認を取得するなど、クレストールの特許期間満了に向けての対策が着実に進んでいることを印象付けた。
