米XOMA社は、2013年10月30日、同社が進めている、IL1βに対する超高親和性モノクローナル抗体gevokizumab（以前はXOMA052と呼ばれていた）に関する概念実証試験のうち、2件のフェーズIIで好結果が得られたと発表した。得られた結果は、壊疽性膿皮症が適応症として特に有望であることを示した。
