米Alnylam Pharmaceuticals社は2013年8月14日、米食品医薬品局（FDA）が、ALN-AT3を血友病Bの治療薬として、希少疾患治療薬に指定したと発表した。ALN-AT3は、皮下注のアンチトロンビンを標的としたRNAi医薬品である。Alnylam Pharmaceuticals社は、ALN-AT3を、血友病AおよびBを含む血友病や他の血液凝固異常症(RBD)を対象疾患として開発している。

米Fibrocell Science社は2013年8月19日、研究グレードの成人の皮膚細胞を、臨床グレードのiPS細胞に転換するメカニズムを示した研究成果を発表した。同研究は「導入遺伝子を必要としないヒトiPS細胞の産生とその形質、および（推定上の）臨床グレードへの転換」と題するもので、近く査読付き学術誌であるStem Cell Research and Therapy誌に掲載される予定だ。
