福井大と東大、理研、刺激無しのGPCR基礎活性で嗅神経の回路形成、Cell誌で発表

福井大学医学部高次脳機能の中嶋藍学術研究員と竹内春樹特命教授らは、Gたんぱく質共役型受容体（GPCR）の約半数を占める嗅覚受容体ファミリーの解析により、個々の嗅覚受容体が生み出す基礎活性が、嗅覚神経回路を形成する上で重要な役割を担っていることを、遺伝子改変動物を用いた一連の実験から見いだした。創薬をはじめとするGPCRの研究分野に新たな切り口を与え得る知見。東京大学大学院理学系研究科と理化学研究所発生・再生科学総合研究センターとの共同研究の成果を2013年9月12日（米東部時刻）、米Cell誌で発表した。福井大は9月12日に記者発表を福井市で行った。

ドイツBASF社は2013年9月4日、米ノースカロライナ州Research Triangle Park（RTP）に新しい研究施設が完成、開所式を挙行したと発表した。3300万ドルをかけて拡充された施設には、8万平方フィート（約7400平方m2）のオフィス、研究室、温室設備などが含まれている。式典にはノースカロライナ州のPat McCrory知事、州のSteve Troxler農業コミッショナー、米下院議員David Price氏、William Bell Durham市長などが参列した。
