米Amgen社と米Cytokinetics社は2013年9月3日、心臓ミオシン活性化薬omecamtiv mecarbilの急性心不全（AHF）を対象とする「ATOMIC-AHF」フェーズII試験のデータをオランダAmsterdamで開催されている欧州心臓病学会主催のESC会議で初めて発表した。同試験では主要評価項目は達成されなかったが、呼吸困難症状の奏効において良好な用量・濃度依存性の傾向が示された。

理化学研究所統合生命医科学研究センター骨関節疾患研究チームと慶応義塾大学医学部整形外科脊椎外科研究グループの松本守雄准教授らは、思春期特発性側彎症（AIS）の重症化に関連するゲノム領域をゲノムワイド関連解析（GWAS）で発見した。研究の成果は2013年9月4日付のPLOS ONE誌に発表した。同研究グループは、2013年5月にはAISの発症に関連した遺伝子の発見を報告している（関連記事）。
