2013年6月7日、「科学技術イノベーション総合戦略」が閣議決定された。2030年に日本の経済力が世界トップレベルであり続けるため、また国民が豊かさと安心・安全を実感できる社会を実現し、国際的に孤立しないために科学技術イノベーションが取り組むべき課題として、（1）クリーンで経済的なエネルギーシステムの実現（2）健康長寿社会の実現（3）次世代インフラ整備（4）地域資源を強みとした地域再生（5）東日本大震災からの早期の復興再生、を挙げている。

厚生労働省、大阪府、京都府、神戸市などは、関西イノベーション国際総合特区の一環として、医薬品医療機器総合機構関西支部を設置すると2013年6月7日に発表した。

キャンバスの株価が急騰した。終値ベースで2013年4月17日の643円が4月25日には2540円となり、わずか1週間で約4倍に上昇した。理由は、4月17日の取引終了後に発表された開発品CBP501の非小細胞肺がんを対象としたフェーズIIの速報結果だ。主要評価項目の無増悪生存期間では統計的な有意差が得られなかったが、特定の患者集団では全生存期間で顕著な効果が示唆されたと発表した。投資家は発表の後半部を評価したようだ。
