東京薬科大と東大、積水化学、パナソニック、カセット電極で微生物燃料電池の廃水処理性能が実用レベルに  from 日経バイオテクONLINE  (2013-5-30 8:03)

東京薬科大学生命科学部生命エネルギー工学研究室の渡邉一哉教授らは、微生物を利用した創電型の廃水処理に適した微生物燃料電池装置を開発し、実験室サイズの装置を用いた模擬廃水処理実験により、従来方式の廃水処理法である活性汚泥法と同等の処理速度を確認したと、2013年5月30日に発表した。微生物燃料電池の廃水処理性能が実用レベルに達したことを示すもので、汚濁廃水中の有機物から電気エネルギーを回収でき、活性汚泥法よりも少ないエネルギーでの処理できることから、創電型の廃水処理に繋がると期待できる成果だ。

欧州委員会（EC：European Commission）は2013年5月15日、第三世代バイオリファイナリーを開発する「Genesys」研究プログラムを推進するためフランス政府がPIVERT IEED（低炭素エネルギー分野で中核となる研究所）に3980万ユーロを助成することは、国家助成に関するEU規則に合致しているとしてこの助成金を承認した。このプロジェクトの目標は、バイオマスを使用してクリーンエネルギーを生産する新世代のバイオリファイナリーを開発することにある。ECはこの助成金は競争による不適切なひずみを生じさせないと判断した。
