米Butamax Advanced Biofuels社は2013年5月9日、米Delaware地方裁判所が米特許8,101,808番（「808」特許）に関して、米Gevo社がButamax社を相手取った訴訟を却下する命令を出したと発表した。Gevo社の「808」特許クレームはイソブタノールを回収するGevo社のGIFT技術をカバーし、既存プラントをイソブタノール生産用に改造できるものであるが、この技術は2012年にシャットダウンされたGevo社のLuverneプラントで使用されていた技術であるという。
