米Ra Pharmaceuticals社、ペプチド様環状化合物Cyclomimeticの開発でMerck社と提携

米Ra Pharmaceuticals社は2013年4月2日、天然のペプチドにはない特徴を備えたペプチド様環状構造分子Cyclomimeticに関して、米Merck社（米国とカナダ以外ではMSDとして知られている）と提携すると発表した。Cyclomimeticは新規の分子で、低分子の性質を保持しながら、多様性と特異性を兼ね備えた抗体である。提携合意に則り、Ra Pharmaceuticals 社が独自に開発したExtreme Diversityを使い複数の疾患たんぱくを標的とするCyclomimetic候補医薬品を開発する。

中国で鳥インフルエンザH7N9型ウイルスの人への感染が確認されました。3月31日に3人、4月2日に4人の感染が明らかにされ、7人のうち2人は死亡しています。これらの感染者への濃厚接触者にはこれまでのところ異常は確認されておらず、確認されたウイルスがヒト−ヒト感染の能力を持っているかはまだ不明です。
