| 米JCVI、1細胞シーケンス技術を使って、病院のシンクから歯周病原性細菌をシーケンス from 日経バイオテクONLINE (2013-4-12 9:00) |

米J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI)の研究チームは2013年4月5日、病院のシンクから採取した口腔細菌Porphyromonas gingivalisの1細胞シーケンス技術を使ったゲノム解析結果を説明した論文を発表した。ヘルスケア施設の細菌膜(バイオフィルム)から、単一の微生物を、1細胞ゲノムシーケンスアプローチを使って分離し、分析したのは初めてのことである。JCVIのJeffrey McLean博士が率いる同チームの研究成果は、4月5日付のGenome Research誌に掲載された。

スウェーデンのSARomics Biostructures社、 フランスのPrestwick Chemical社、ドイツのProQinase社は、イタリアのUniversity of Turin、イスラエルのWeizmann Institute of ScienceのIsrael Structural Proteomics Center (ISPC) およびフランスのUniversity of Strasbourgの TechMedIll platform と協力して、トランスレーショナルキナーゼ腫瘍阻害剤発見コンソーシアム (TAKTIC)を設立した。設立にあたり、EUの第 7 次フレームワークプログラムから、110万ユーロの研究資金を得た。

英製薬大手AstraZeneca社は3月中旬に大規模なリストラ計画を発表した。対象疾患を呼吸器・炎症・自己免疫、心臓血管・代謝およびがんの3領域に絞ると同時に研究開発や販売・管理組織をスリム化し、2016年までに社員の約10％に相当する5000人を削減する。 主力製品の特許期限切れに伴う後発医薬品との競争激化や各国政府の医療費抑制を受けてリストラを断行するのは、今や世界のビッグファーマにとって当たり前で新鮮味はない。同社に特徴的なのは、新薬事業に特化する戦略を堅持している点だ。

UMNファーマは2004年4月に秋田市に設立された創薬ベンチャーである。紆余曲折を経て主力事業をバイオ医薬品の研究開発に定め、06年8月には米Protein Sciences社（PSC社）から細胞培養型のワクチン製品とその製造技術を導入。日本での開発を開始した。
