フランス・パリにある国際エネルギー機関（IEA：International Energy Agency）のBioenergy部門に属する Task 39グループは2013年3月18日、世界の先進バイオ燃料産業の発展状況を調査した「Status of Advanced Biofuels Demonstration Facilities in 2012」と題する報告書を公表した（関連記事）。IEA Bioenergy Task 39グループは15カ国の液体バイオ燃料の専門家から成るネットワークで、日本からは京都大学・エネルギー科学研究科の坂志朗教授とNEDOのHonda Fumihiro氏が参加している。
