久々の休暇で京都を訪ねました。梅にも早く、冷え込み雪が散らつくなど、日頃の心掛けを反省するばかりでしたが、それでも京都は面白い。御所や寺町通りなど少し歩くだけで横井小楠の刺殺場所など明治維新の殺伐とした暗殺の香りを嗅いだような気になります。歴史が重層する都の凄みを感じながら現在の平和のありがたさをこころから思います。一応流行には敏感なので新島襄・八重の住居を見学に参りました。たまたまおじさん2人連れのカメラのシャッターを押したところ「会津から来ました」と喜色に溢れた音で名乗りをいただき、歴史がまだ心の中に残響を止めていることを知りました。この場所に展示されている会津若松の鶴ヶ城の写真は、数1000発のアームストロング砲弾を撃ち込まれ歪んでいます。東京上野不忍池で本郷の東大の岡から同様にアームストロング砲で射撃された彰義隊の子孫としては、何とも複雑な気持ちでした。

皮だけでなく果肉まで赤いリンゴ新品種が、弘前大学と信州大学で別々に開発され、それぞれ種苗企業と独占契約を結んだことが分かった。弘前大藤崎農場で塩崎雄之輔教授（当時、08年に定年退官）らが育成した新品種「紅の夢」については2012年11月、原田種苗（青森市、原田清晴代表取締役）が独占契約を結んだ（当面5年間）。信州大農学部の伴野潔教授らが育成した新品種「ハニーレッド」については2012年12月、小町園（長野県上伊那郡中川村、松澤孝代表取締役）が独占契約を結んだ（1年契約、自動更新）。
