セグウェイはのんびりした日に短時間、平坦な道のりを行くのにはたいへん快適な乗り物ですが、こけないわけではありません。
セグウェイに乗っていて転倒したところを集めた動画集がありました。
セグウェイは漕ぐような動作をしてはいけないんですが、それをやってこけちゃう人、
車輪がロックしてしまうようなところに乗り上げてこけちゃう人、
急激な体重移動をしようとして自分ごと倒れちゃう人などなど。
まー、見てるとセグウェイも人間がやりたがる自然な動きについていくのはまだまだだなあと思う一方で、こういう動きを人間がしても機械がついていくようになると、それはそれで危ないかもなあという気もします。

理研BSIと名大など、スプライシングの破たんが神経難病ALSとSMAに共通の原因

理化学研究所脳科学総合研究センター（BSI）運動ニューロン変性研究チームの山中宏二チームリーダーと築地仁美研究員らは、全身の筋肉まひを引き起こす運動神経変性疾患の1つである筋萎縮性側索硬化症（ALS）の運動神経細胞の中に、小児期に発症する運動神経変性疾患である脊髄性筋萎縮症（SMA）と類似した異常を発見し、2つの疾患に共通する神経細胞変性メカニズムの一端を解明した。名古屋大学、東京都健康長寿医療センター、福祉村病院長寿医学研究所との共同研究の成果を、欧州の医学専門誌EMBO Molecular Medicine誌（インパクトファクター10.3）2013年2月号で発表する。この掲載に先立ち、同誌オンライン版で成果が発表された。
