都医学総研、Science誌で「空腹時の学習で記憶力向上」発表、記者説明会にTVカメラ5台  from 日経バイオテクONLINE  (2013-1-25 4:00)

東京都医学総合研究所の平野恭敬主任研究員（科学技術振興機構さきがけ研究員を兼任）と齊藤実参事研究員らは、ショウジョウバエの学習実験で、空腹状態が長期記憶形成を促進することを見いだした。記憶を長期的に保存するために脳の神経細胞で重要な働きをするCREB（cAMP response element binding protein）に結合するCRTC（camp-regulated transcriptional co-activator）が、空腹時にはインスリンの低下で活性化され細胞核に移行することが、この記憶促進に寄与すること突き止めた。首都大学東京との共同研究によるこの成果を、2013年1月25日発行の米Science誌で発表する。ちょうど受験シーズンということもあり、1月23日に文部科学省で開催された記者説明会では、今回の成果を受験勉強にどのように結びつけることが可能かに関する質問が集中した。説明会にはTVカメラ5台が並んだ。

米Solazyme社は2013年1月16日、米Bunge社の子会社Bunge Global Innovation社とのジョイントベンチャーであるブラジルSolazyme Bunge Renewable Oils社が、ブラジル開発銀行（BNDES）からプロジェクト・ファイナンスとして2億4569万9000レアル（約1億2000万ドル）の融資を受けることになったと発表した。BNDESからの資金はジョイントベンチャーがブラジルで展開しようとしている砂糖から再生可能オイルを生産する最初の商業規模施設の建設を支援するために使われる。このオイル生産施設はサンパウロ州にあるBunge社のMoema製糖工場に隣接して建設されているところ。この8年ローンの年平均金利は約4％となっている。
