米Catalent Pharma Solutions社は、2012年11月13日、遺伝子組み換えヒトα1アンチトリプシン(hAAT)生産用の細胞株の販売について米Cevec Pharmaceuticals社と合意したと発表した。同時に、Celvec社のヒト羊水細胞に由来するたんぱく質生産細胞株であるCAP細胞(関連記事)と、Catalent社のGPEx技術を組み合わせた研究開発と営業活動で協力することにも合意した。GPEx技術は、たんぱく質をコードする遺伝子をゲノム上の複数個所に挿入することで、たんぱく質の発現効率を高めるもの。
