厚生労働省は2012年11月9日、病院を保有する年金・健康保険福祉施設整理機構に東北厚生年金病院を譲渡対象となる社会保険病院等として選定したことを通知した。東北薬科大学が受け入れ候補先となる。

日東電工は、2012年11月13日、米国子会社のNitto Denko Avecia社を通じた、米国の核酸医薬・低分子化合物合成受託企業であるGirindus America社の買収を発表した。核酸医薬分野での事業拡大を目指したものだ。
