リンフォテック（東京・江東、関根暉彬社長）と東京工業大学大学院生命理工学研究科の田川陽一准教授ら、日本ジェネティクス（東京・文京、山崎一夫社長）は、霊長類ES/iPS細胞を緩慢凍結法で高効率で保全でき、ドライアイスで輸送ができる凍結保存液を開発した。神戸市で開かれる第64回日本生物工学会大会で2012年10月26日に発表する。霊長類ES/iPS細胞は冷凍体制が低く通常の緩慢凍結法では効率良く凍結保存できないため、日本ではガラス化凍結法が広く用いられている。しかしガラス化凍結法は、手技に熟練を要し、凍結細胞の輸送は液体窒素中で行う必要があるなど制約が多い。操作が簡便で効率の良い凍結保存法や凍結保存液の開発が望まれている。
