 米産婦人科学会(ACOG)の遺伝学委員会と米母体胎児医学会(Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine、SMFM)の出版委員会は、2012年11月20日、母体血漿中に存在する胎児由来の無細胞DNAを用いたトリソミー検査は、異数性リスクが高い胎児を妊娠している妊婦にのみ行うべきである、などとする委員会見解を共同で発表した。
