日経バイオテク10月22日号「審査報告書を読む」、抗精神病薬 ラミクタール錠（グラクソ・スミスクライン）

今回は、2011年11月に「双極性障害における気分エピソードの再発・再燃抑制」の効能・効果で承認（効能・効果の追加）された「ラミクタール錠」（一般名：ラモトリギン）を取り上げる。本剤は、てんかん患者への併用療法薬として英GlaxoSmithKline社により開発され、1990年にアイルランドで初めて承認された。日本においても08年10月に「他の抗てんかん薬で十分な効果が認められないてんかん患者に対する併用療法」の効能・効果を取得し、多くのてんかん患者に使用されている。

ノーベル賞の持つ威力は絶大だった。祝日の10月8日に京都大学・山中伸弥教授のノーベル賞受賞が決定すると、翌日の9日はバイオ銘柄に一気に買いが集まった。タカラバイオ、プレシジョン・システム・サイエンス（PSS）、DNAチップ研究所がストップ高に、ジャパン・ティッシュ・エンジニアリング（J−TEC）、免疫生物研究所が急騰した。

島津製作所の田中耕一フェローを中心研究者とする研究プロジェクトが縮小される可能性が高くなった。このプロジェクトは、最先端研究開発支援プログラム（FIRSTプログラム）に採択されている「次世代質量分析システムの開発と創薬・診断への貢献」。2012年10月25日に開催された「最先端研究開発支援推進会議」で、プロジェクトの内容を見直すことが決まった。
