米23andMe社は2012年9月14日、同社のアプリケーション・プログラミング・インターフェース（API）を第三者開発者に公開すると発表した。APIをオープンにすることで、第三者が開発した新たなクラウドソーシングのアプリを通じて、DNA研究の機会がさらに増大するとしている。

東北大学大学院薬学研究科の青木淳賢教授、井上飛鳥助手、巻出久美子助教、東京大学大学院薬学系研究科の新井洋由教授、大和田智彦教授、愛媛大学プロテオ医学研究センターの東山繁樹教授は、GPCRの活性化を検出するTGFα切断アッセイ法を共同で開発しました。この手法を用いると116種のリガンド既知のGPCRのうち104種類の活性化を測定可能。この検出率は約90％と世界最高値という。さらに、開発した手法を用いて、生理活性脂質リゾホスファチジルセリンに対する3つの受容体P2Y10、GPR174 、A630033H20を発見した。この成果は、GPCRを標的とした創薬開発の効率化に貢献するとともに、生理活性脂質リゾホスファチジルセリンの機能解明に大きく寄与する。この成果は、米Nature Methods誌の2012年10月号に掲載される。
