スイスRoche社は2012年10月15日、中外製薬が創製した抗IL6受容体抗体「Actemra」（日本での製品名は「アクテムラ」、トシリズマブ）の適応拡大が米食品医薬品局（FDA）に承認されたと発表した。今回承認された適応は「1剤以上の疾患修飾性抗リウマチ薬（DMARDs：Disease Modifying Antirheumatic Drugs）の効果が不十分な中等度から重度の活動性を有する成人の関節リウマチ」。今までの適応は「1剤以上のTNF阻害薬の効果が不十分な中等度から重症の成人の関節リウマチ」であった。
