ホクトきのこ総合研究所は、需要が拡大している食用キノコであるエリンギの品種を迅速に高精度識別できるSSR（単純反復配列、マイクロサテライト）マーカーを開発した。エリンギの品種識別に現在利用されている対峙培養試験は1カ月を要するのに比べ、わずか2日間ほどで識別可能だ。東京農業大学（東京・世田谷）で開催された日本きのこ学会第16回大会で、2012年9月7日に発表した。この研究は、農林水産省の助成で実施した。
